About SRC
In a country like India, with diversities in religion culture, traditions and customs, education forms an important component of development in reducing the disparities and in achieving development in all spears of human life. Education is universally recognized as an investment in human resources and a medium to foster and perpetuate values and it is the instrument for bringing out social change. Today, we still have about 26% of non-literate population and almost equal number of Indians below poverty line. In order to address this problem, from time to time, the Government has been implementing different schemes for the eradication of illiteracy in the country. The first step in this direction was to launch the National Adult Education Programme (NAEP) in 1978. The National Literacy Mission (NLM) which was launched in the year 1988 has a focus on campaign approach. State Resource Centres (SRCs) were established throughout country to provide Academic & Technical Resource Support to the ongoing adult literacy programmes in the states. The SRC, Hyderabad is one of the oldest State Resource Centres among the 32 SRCs functioning in the country today.
